Ari Weinkle

An artist and designer based in Boston, Ari is one of eight artists invited by the Academy to create a representation of the statuette inspired by his love of movies.

"The Oscars hold a special place for me: The films are a major inspiration for my creative thinking. As I considered how movies transform and inspire me, several themes emerged. There’s the technical aspects: lighting, framing, pacing, etc. But the more I reflected on the medium, the more intangible influences surfaced. I realized that movies play a big part in my identity. There aren’t necessarily specific elements I can point to. More an overall effect. Each film is a leaf in the pages of what amounts to my 'self.'"
